Welcome to "Where Cats Rule"

"Where Cats Rule"...where the cats call the shots!!

We don't groom sedated or drugged cats.  (If cats need to be sedated or drugged due to behavioral or anxiety issues, then we recommend having them groomed at a veterinary clinic for their safety.)

We instead introduce the grooming services to the cats and progress as they feel comfortable, ensuring a positive experience for your feline friend.

Cats that do well in our grooming salon are typically socialized (ok with being handled by people).  They don't "freak out" upon seeing other people, cats or dogs.  Being a busy grooming shop, there are always dogs coming & going.  We also have 3 cats that live in the shop (Maui, Dunkin' & Ashley) who have been trained not to bother any cats being groomed.

Likewise, cats that are skittish, jumpy, feral, or are easily upset seeing other people, cats or dogs ...our services aren't for them.

We do not & never will force any grooming services on a stressing cat.  (It is up to the Groomers discretion as to what grooming services can/will be done.)  Safety & Health ALWAYS comes first.

Your cat's comfort is our top priority!

If you think our salon sounds like a purrfect match for your furbaby, give us a call to schedule a "Meet & Greet"!!

Our services

We offer a comprehensive range of grooming services designed to keep your cat looking and feeling their best. From gentle bathing and brushing to expert haircuts and nail trims, we tailor our services to meet your cat's individual needs and preferences.

Cat Services are by Appointment typically Tues thru Sat, 8 am-2 pm

15 minute Services while you wait include

*Nail Trim

* Sanitary Shave (under the tail)

🐱🐱🐱

Bath & Brush pkg is typically 1-1 1/2 hours and includes 15 minute brushout, nail & paw trim, ears cleaned, & sanitary shave (if desired).

Full Service pkg is the same as the Bath & Brush but is typically 1 1/2 hours -2 hours, and includes a haircut.

*For Bath & Brush AND Full Service, if cat requires extra brush time or shave time, or is over 20 lbs...extra charge will apply.

We have a variety of shampoos (oatmeal, avocado, hypoallergenic, exfolliating), cream rinse, conditioner.  Typically groomer will choose what is needed for the cats coat/skin but if you have a shampoo you would prefer to be used instead, you are welcome to bring it.

We offer teethbrushing for $5 with either pkg purchase (as long as cat is ok with it)

For fleas...if cat definitely has fleas, they will need to take a Capstar 24 hours prior to coming into salon.  Please tell Groomer cat has fleas.  The Capstar will start killing any active fleas, but not the larvae or eggs (which is what the shampoo is for/ the Capstar is to keep fleas from jumping off and spreading in the shop.)  *If you are using a spot-on, be sure to follow instructions as to when they can have a bath.

Because flea shampoos can be drying to the skin, and flea bites leave skin itchy, we do a second bath with oatmeal shampoo. Both shampoos need to stay on cats 5-10 minutes, and will add an extra 30 minutes to grooming time.  Charge is $15 in addition to the Bath & Brush or Full Service price.

Bathing & brushing

Our gentle bathing and brushing services remove loose fur,  and mats that are tight will be shaved out leaving your cat's coat clean, soft, and healthy. We use only cat-friendly products to ensure a comfortable and stress-free experience.

For cats that are super-shedders, the bath & brushing will remove alot of the hair but the hand drying is where most of it comes off so if the cat is deathly afraid of dryers then it limits how much of the loose hair will be alble to be removed.

We do have an exfoliating shampoo for dander & remoisturizing shampoos for dry skin but if cat has alot of dander, you may need to get a shampoo for that from your vet.  (Stud tail also requires a shampoo from your vet.)

The tub for cat baths is only used by cars (not dogs).  It has a slotted platform for the cat to stand/sit on so cats are not directly in the water.  We use a Hydro-Massage Bathing System which provides a massaging bath getting cats bathed faster & cleaner than a typical bath.  That is followed with a Gentle Wand Rinse which is more soothing than a blasting from the typical removable showerhead.

Then they are towel dried and possibly hand air-dried or put in a room temp air cage dryer depending on what the cat prefers.  Because cats typically like to sit in one spot in the cage dryer & they don't walk around, they usually go home a little damp.  If that is a concern for cats during the winter, would recommend getting cat groomed right before cold weather hits or if it's a short hair cat/shaved cat, we can do a waterless bath & would recommend you bring a warm blanket to wrap cat in afterwards.

***Due to the fact that the warm, massaging bath is very relaxing some cats have fallen asleep afterwards on the grooming table.  Others may need a good cat nap after going home.  They are not "lethargic", we don't give them any "drugs" (they aren't even in salon long enough for that)...they just enjoyed some R&R.  Once they've had a nap, they'll be all refreshed!!

Nail trims

Regular nail trims are essential for your cat's health and well-being. Our experienced groomers will carefully trim your cat's nails to a comfortable length, preventing scratches and damage to furniture.

Typically the first nail trim may be done on front counter depending on the cat.  Trims after that may be done in back if time allows, it also depends on the cat & it's comfort level.

Nail trims are $10 plus tax and are by appointment.  They take approximately 15 minutes or less depending on the cat.

Restraints

We prefer to use the minimal.  We use a E-collar for nail trims.  An E-collar is also used esp for bath as it keeps water from getting in a cats ears & lungs.  (A waterless shampoo is used on cats head & face.)

For baths, we use a figure 8 harness so that if a cat should jump out of the tub there is something to safely grab.

We have clear plastic muzzles & other muzzles but if we should have to use one, the owners will be told.  We don't use them on Persians, Seniors, Super Seniors and prefer to just not use them unless absolutely neccessary.

We do have the thick gloves but they tend to freak cats out, so unless a cat gets loose and gets hostile we don't use those.

We do not use the grooming bathing cages or bathing bags (nor would we ever).

Haircuts

Typically, there is one blade that we use for shaving the cats and it is a short shave on the body.  The tail can be left (if the cat is touchy about the tail being handled it is recommended not to shave it), can be completely shaved, or can be shaved with a poof left at the end called a "lion tail".  The mane can be left long in front, can be shortened to a medium mane, short mane and any mane length can be tapered down to remove the "fluff".  We can also leave no mane which is a popular choice.

**For the Bath & Brush pkg, we can taper down the mane or the tail, or the "britches" if desired.

Senior cats may require a different type of cut depending on the cat, we'll deal with that as needed on an individual basis.

Matted cats will require to be shaved, as it is too painful for a cat to have tight matts combed out & it combing can easily damage their skin.

Pelted Cats:  We no longer groom pelted cats due to the pain involved.  We only want cats having a positive experience in the salon, not a positively traumatic one.  (Highly recommend  veterinary clinic & sedation for pelted cats.)

(*Pelted cats are cats that were matted, then got wet where the fur pulled so tight that it is impossible to get a finger in between the fur to feel the skin.)

We'll work with you to achieve the perfect look for your feline friend.

Misc.

If you have read the info on this site and think your cat would be a good fit for a bath or shave in our salon, then the first step is to call us and set up a "Meet & Greet" which will take about 15 minutes.  There will be a short form for you to fill out.  The Groomer may do a nail trim or sanitary clip to see if cat is "groomable".  Then the cat will be given a tour of the shop.  If all goes well, then you will be able to schedule an appointment for the bath and/or haircut at that time and you will be given a price estimate as well.  There is no charge for the "Meet & Greet" as it is primarily to see if the cat is groomable and to make them feel as at ease as possible.

(The meet & greet allows the cat to leave after a quick visit and on a positive note, both which make it easier on cats nerves than exposing them to everything all at once.  So when they come back, they already have an idea of what to expect.  It makes things much less stressful for them.)

🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱

*We have parking available on side street or in back of shop, you enter the shop by the front door.

*If we are able to get a photo of the cat after the groom, we post those to FB.

*If you are running more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, please call as appointment will probably have to be rescheduled depending on the days schedule.  Any reason is acceptable, just call, communication is key.

*A no call/no show for any bath& brush or full service appointment will result in a $25 no call/no show fee.
